At Stradigi AI, we’re always on the lookout for inspiration to help drive our innovation forward, and there’s no better place to find it than at SXSW. Since AI impacts every industry, we like to keep our fingers on the pulse of what’s happening from a broad perspective. Here are some of the talks we’ll be catching at this year’s conference… and you should be, too!

Energizing Health @ SXSW

If, like us, you’d like to be part of creating a healthier future, you won’t want to miss the Energizing Health talks. Happening March 8 to 11, the series is focused on creating opportunities across a diverse range of industries, from healthcare to venture capital and philanthropy. Its mission is to innovate, collaborate and activate initiatives to break down deep-rooted barriers and build healthier communities. Some of the must-see talks include Big Data and Innovations for Marginalized Groups and Inequity: The Unspoken Factor Fueling Cancer.

Erika Alexander on diversity and inclusion in modern media

We’re big believers that the best ideas are born from diversity and inclusion. And Erika Alexander, actress, writer, producer, activist and co-founder of the recently launched multi-platform content company, Color Media Farm, champions this way of thinking. The innovative company’s slate of film, TV and digital projects brings together an impressive lineup of diverse creators with a shared mission to make modern media more inclusive.

Brené Brown explores the true meaning of belonging

Author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers including The Gifts of Imperfection and Daring Greatly, Dr. Brené Brown has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy. At this year’s SXSW, she’ll be exploring how true belonging demands we believe in and belong to ourselves fully, finding sacredness in both being a part of something and in standing alone when necessary. As advocates of the power of collaboration, we can’t wait to hear her insights.

Bias in, bias out: building better AI

When influential speakers from the Canadian government, Google, MIT and the Data Nutrition Project come together to talk about the future of AI, we’re all ears. AI plays a growing role in every aspect of our society. Algorithms now make important decisions that affect our daily lives, from how we’re policed to what ads we see online. And yet, the datasets on which they’re built are often inconsistent, unrepresentative and inappropriately used. This panel will explore methods to identify “bad data” and address problematic inputs.

Bonus round! AI creates cashless cities and a borderless world

When we heard one of the world’s leading UX design experts, Shanying Leung, would be speaking at SXSW this year, we had to add this talk to our list. Having worked for online giants like Aliplay, Yahoo and Bing, Leung is now Design Director for Ant Financial, which uses AII (Artificial Intelligence Integration) to provide equal opportunities to hundreds of millions of users in China. This AII is not only helping to build cashless cities, but also to create a borderless world that allows more users to leverage previously inaccessible services. Watch the talk to learn how these AII advances are set to transform payment ecosystems around the globe and create a more connected society.

We hope you’re as inspired as we are by this year’s lineup of SXSW speakers. Be sure to stop by the Intelligent Future track at the Fairmont Austin to visit the Stradigi AI Lab & Lounge.
